Perez Kirya Izizinga
Perez Kirya is a dedicated research professional committed to bridging the gap between complex evidence and effective policymaking. As a Research Associate at ACRES, he translates intricate research data into clear, actionable insights that empower decision-makers in low- and middle-income countries. His work is driven by a focus on delivering tangible results and strengthening systems through evidence-informed practice.
At the heart of ACRES’ mission, Perez manages the complete lifecycle of pivotal evidence synthesis projects. He has steered key initiatives, including a large-scale Evidence Gap Map of health research in Uganda, where he coordinated a team of 30 researchers. His expertise is also central to an ongoing project mapping the development impacts of natural resources degradation. By engaging directly with national and sub-national stakeholders, Perez ensures that research is not only rigorous but also responsive to real-world policy needs, frequently delivering rapid-response briefs to address urgent questions.
Areas of Expertise:
- Evidence Synthesis & Analysis: Systematic Reviews, Evidence Gap Mapping, Rapid Response, Data Extraction and Cleaning (EPPI Reviewer), and Visualization (EPPI Mapper).
- Project Leadership & Coordination: End-to-end management of complex research projects, team supervision, and strategic planning.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Knowledge Translation: Translating research for policy audiences, fostering partnerships, and facilitating evidence-informed decision-making.
Perez holds a B.S. in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from Kyambogo University and has pursued advanced training in systematic reviews and rapid response methodologies with the EPPI Centre (UCL) and ACRES.
