Caroline Nakalema
Caroline Nakalema is a biostatistician and evidence synthesis expert with a professional mission of ensuring that data doesn’t gather dust in journals but instead empowers decisions that improve lives.
At ACRES, she serves as a bridge between the worlds of economics, statistics, and social development. Caroline specializes in the high-pressure world of rapid evidence synthesis, where her work provides the scientific backbone for urgent national policy decisions.
As a leader within ACRES’ Rapid Response Service, Caroline is responsible for delivering timely, high-quality research to both national and sub-national decision-makers. She excels at navigating the time problem in governance, applying advanced statistical methods to strengthen policy formulation without sacrificing rigour.
With a Master’s in Biostatistics from Makerere University and a background in Economics from Kyambogo University, Caroline possesses a unique dual-lens for policy analysis. She uses statistical modelling to deconstruct complex research findings into practical, actionable takeaways.
Professional philosophy:
“Evidence shouldn’t gather dust in journals—it should empower decisions that improve lives.”
