ACRES Meets with Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development to Advance Evidence-Informed Policy Making
The Center for Rapid Evidence Synthesis (ACRES) has taken a significant step forward in promoting evidence-informed policy making in the renewable energy sub-sector. Led by Edward Kayongo, Head of Policy Engagement and Analysis Unit, the ACRES team met with officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, led by Hon. Okaasai Opolot, State Minister for Energy at the Ministry offices on May 23rd, 2024.
The meeting aimed to identify potential areas of cooperation between ACRES and the Ministry, as the government explores new developments in the renewable energy sub-sector. The ACRES team introduced the Ministry officials to their Rapid Response Service and other products, showcasing the value of evidence synthesis in informing policy decisions.
Laying the Groundwork for Future Cooperation
The meeting culminated in agreement to initiate the process of formulating a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ACRES and the Ministry. This MoU will guide future cooperation and ensure a strong foundation for evidence-informed policy making in the renewable energy sub-sector.
This meeting marks an important milestone in ACRES’ mission to champion evidence-informed policy making. By working together with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, ACRES can ensure that policies are informed by the best available evidence, leading to a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
