Building a Culture of EIPM (B-CuE) in Uganda Project
Efforts toward building an Evidence-Informed Policy-Making (EIPM) culture in Uganda
Duration: 2022- present
The programme builds on the current work and seeks to strengthen critical areas, including governance, knowledge, and skills for sustained evidence-informed decision-making.
In this programme, we aim to nurture a supportive culture that will build a sustainable and incremental progress towards the institutionalization of EIPM. This will be expected to improve access and use of evidence in policy development and implementation in the health, education and social sectors. The activities scale and nurture sustainable capacity and enhance collaboration pathways with the aim of improving the culture of EIPM among policymakers and other stakeholders.
The programme also seeks opportunities to support the development of more policies well informed by research.
Programme objectives
- To scale-up the activities of the Center for Rapid Evidence Synthesis as a knowledge brokerage institution to strengthen support for timely EIPM in Uganda.
- To design a sustainable and relevant pre-service and in-service training capacity building programme to ensure individuals and institutions acquire relevant and adequate knowledge and skills to support timely EIPM.
- To enhance collaboration among partners supporting EIPM in Uganda, leading to more coordinated and complementary efforts.
The use of evidence
The programme proposes innovative and sustainable approaches to exploring the scaling up of and sustainable access to evidence – informed policymaking and, in a timely manner, enhancing collaborations, and scaling up sustainable capacity-building approaches for those pre- and in-service to ensure that there are adequate personnel with the prerequisite skills for EIPM.
